For members who don't happen to own the Haynes Tiger 1 Owner's Manual, this little article on S-Mine and Smoke Candle dischargers might be of interest. They (the dischargers) come under the heading of
Close Defence Weapons, (Nahverteidigungswaffen) and the article goes into considerable detail about their design and deployment. We have to be grateful for the near obsessive drive some armour fans have, to squeeze every last drop of information out of the ''Net, and official sources, on their favourite pin-up tank.

Superb examples of the attention to detail I mentioned, Painless. Thanks for the revealing closeups! I guess that a 1/6 tiger might be able to launch actual Party Poppers. Scale-wise, they'll probably be a good fit as smoke candles or 'S'-mines

Thanks, Painless. Apparently, there's not much evidence that these defensive weapons were ever used in anger, so to speak. Zimmerit was also a defensive measure and, like the Smoke/ grenade launchers on the Tiger 1, was equally useless apparently. Or, perhaps that should read: 'unused.' The Cromwell had an almost identical fitting in the turret. I wonder, how often did tanks make a defensive smoke screen in WW2? I though they only made smoke when they 'brewed up'
