Does anyone have a drawing or pattern for hatch hinges?

I've been trying to make some for my Jagdpanzer IV, but no luck so far. I tried the ones that came with the conversion kit, but couldn't get them to work. I know it's most likely something I'm just not seeing, but it's got me at a dead end.

you might get some ideas,

Here's a design, it's in downloads as an openscad file or II can email an stl file. Hinge dimensions are 8mm x 6mm

Looking at the pictures of the Jagdpanzer IV, the hatches seem to have a cantilevered sort of hinge that lifts the hatch clear. My Puma had a similar arrangement, though it was a pig to try to fit. If it will help, I can photograph the relevant it of the mnual.

Thanks for the info, Alwyn. I'm in need of the cantilever type hinges. I tried modifying the kit supplied hinges, but was still left scratching my head.

Richard, If you could post a picture, I would really appreciate it. I know when I get it worked out it's gonna be one of those smack your forehead moments!

This unit resembles the one illustrated in Alwyn's picture. Whilst not strictly cantilever in operation (like a kitchen cabinet door fitting...), it is based WW2 German tank components, apparently.
It would be handy to see a blueprint of the full-scale real deal.. It would have the effect of lifting a hatch clear, I guess....

Good luck finding a solution. Details like this are often the hardest ones for a modeller to get right...

The Hinges that Bill is referring to are similar in their action to the ones to be found on the drivers and radio operators hatches on a Tiger1 only instead of being a single pillar cantilever they are twin pillar cantilever,
The ones from Shapeway are great on the engine hatches of a PZ4 but they are not like the hatch hinges of a JagdPanzer1V,
So much for Shapeways saying that it was the standard hinge fitted to German Armour

Here are a couple of photos, which may or may not help you in your struggles. At the risk of stating the blindlingly obvious, C-18 is the cantilever hinge, secured in place by C-17. It is supposed to be a working hinge but I found C-17 to be so small it was impossible to get a secure fixing. After one or two operations it came off every time. In the end, there was no need as the commander is firmly glued in place. I have tried to photograph it in situe, but this is the best I could do. I hope this helps.

Just a long shot. If Tamiya have the correct hinge pattern on their Jagdpanzer IV, it might we worthwhile ordering the particular sprue they're embedded in. That could be expensive, though.
Fabricating a hinge out of tin, or copper sheet might be the best way forward, though...once the correct pattern is found. Desperate times require desperate measures

Similarly, if their Tiger 1 has cantilevers anywhere..the sprue should be available. Not having built one, (yet ) I wouldn't know though..

In Norway, it wouldn't have been a problem. As we're on a similar latitude, you'd expect oor authorities tae have some snow expertise by now. Apparently not. Must be the wrong kind
