Lee's Mato Sherman M4A1(76)

Post by c.rainford73 »

As I await many parts for several new projects, I was very lucky to have purchased this lovely Sherman from Lee (Model Builder 4) on the forum. Arrived to the USA in one piece in a weekImage

I've decided to keep the stock electronics( for now) Imagesince they do sound better than Heng Long/Taigen. I removed the srew system and attached magnets to secure the upper hull superstructure. Installed a much larger 5w speaker and weathered the Mato tracks.

Lee added the beautiful metal gun and brass muzzle break. Lee thank youImageImage

Took her outside for a spin and snapped some photos after I painted it. I made the tank part of the allied forces invasion of Sicily and she wears British markings and Airial recognition star on the engine deck.

Thanks for lookingImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Very nice - lee did a great job building and modding it.

Paint job looks very smart, nice and subtle.

Looks FAB carl, would be interested in having a look at your magnet arrangement, I put screws in my upper and cut the heads off so the shank locates in the original screw holes

Sure thing. I use the system that MichaelC has in his tanks. It's very nice and reliable. Cheers Image

Good afternoon,
I really like the cast hull Shermans and Lees ( now yours ) looks a treat, Carl. There is so much that can be done detail and markings wise. MATO beat HL out with their affordable to everyone Sherman. I'm really glad to see that these are still being bought and built. My unaltered M4A1 was Crazy Joes first command but after the rebuild, it went to another 'crazy' Sergeant, Lafayette Pool. ;o)
regards,
Painless

A fine looking tank as it is Carl, but with potential to be even more eye catching. I'd be interested to know what it cost to mail it to you..for future reference, and what Customs made, if anything, of a Sherman returning home, albeit in 1/16 form :D
