WPL M35A2 4x4 build

So at one stage I had 4 or 5 of these trucks. I sold a couple.
This one however I decided to keep for myself.
It is originally a Grey truck to start.
Actually for a toy I thought it was really good standard, but I like to tinker So it isn't anymore.

Modifications include metal gear micro servo. Changing to 2.4ghz core receiver, 20a esc, 2s 1000mah lipo and custom touches.

I also aim to add working winch and sound & smoke. But for now I will share a few pictures of my progress.
It's a relatively simple build to try and make it look a bit more realistic M35.

Wood lined rear truck bed to start.
Then built up wooden side panels.
This has been reinforced with a metal rear cage.
Canvas top is still to be made and will be allowed to be rolled up.
Rear tailgate on hinges to open and close.
Doors can open & close.
Slightly decorated interior.
More lighting in the truck for side and rear lights.
Also readying canvas top for drivers cab.
I will also be building some wing mirror supports.

As for colour the wood will be varnished and the truck Olive drab.

I need to pick up my son now, so pictures later.

Fit on truck bed. Soldered together. 1st time I done this so I happy with results

Next picture shows if you remove the plastic engine tray there is loads of room up front.
I thought about sound unit or smoke generator. But there is a lot of weight up front. So I refit the tray and the other electrics all going in back and hidden in piles of crates

From looking the pictures above, I think the winch will look ok if I am able to set it back u see the front bonnet slam a little.
On some pictures it is clear the winch sticks quite far forward and looks odd in reality.

Pain about the model are the fact the rear truck bed has too many of the vertical side stiffners.
1 too many. That does mean the hoops for the top cover don't look 100%.
But I think with the canvas on it will hardly be noticeable.
I will do a other and sort that out.

I still have to make wing mirrors but have more rod for that.
I also have to make some hinged mud flaps. So these will be part fabric with impregnated rubber.
A tow hitch has to be made and reinforced into the chassis.
The tow shackles up front are moulded only. So I will see if 1/10 scale shackles will work with a bit of scale chain of course.

Windows I will put in and hinges the front Windows like original. Also need to add some paperclip wipers.
Wheels for me are going to be fine thank goodness.

I need to paint rear diff cover white and put little white led underneath. It may not be correct but army do this for driving convoy at night.
Pancake air intake needs to be fashioned for right side of bonnet.

I will be fitting another battery to operate some ancillaries

What am I gonna do with the GAZ trucks when they arrive. Hmmmm
