1/16 M-ATV MRAP/HL M35 kit bashing WIP

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

1/16 M-ATV MRAP/HL M35 kit bashing WIP

Hi all,

I have always interested in the Trumpeter 1/16 M-ATV MRAP but didn't have a suitable RC platform to kit bash it until the very flexible, Lego like HL Truck came along. So here is some before and after pics so far. I have managed to get everything to fit together, and just waiting for some electronics to show up to have it running.

Amazingly enough even the mine resistance armour underneath is a fit. You can also see the brass tubing extension for the drive linkage.

Remove rear cab to show the underlying HL frame and mount point. The front cab is mounted similarly.

The plastic ladder frame is virtually identical in length and width with the Heng Long metal ladder frame

Thanks guys. It was much easier than I expected, just some adjustment and fitting here and there.

Wow that does look cool, good luck with the rest of the build, but that does look great

Cleverly improvised, Michael, and likely to result in a superb model. :thumbup: Somehow, it looks bigger that 1/16...don't know why. Trumpeter certainly produce some highly desirable kits.

Thanks guys..... It is coming along, just waiting for a ESC, but plug in a Clark board today and almost smoke the HL 130 drive motor........ At least the 4x4 brass fitted drive linkage is working !

It does look bigger than 1/16, but then I found this on the web.......
