Best speaker! - Visaton alternatives or best places to buy?

Post by Marco Peter »

Hi all!

Recently I found the sound quality of tanks that I own which were custom build by other to be SO MUCH better that standard HL/Taigen/Torro-stuff... So I started to look up more information about speakers in tanks. I read on several fora about Ohms and wattages and so on. My trusted supplier RCTank.de has some nice Visaton-ones, and with my first Clark boards I bought a nice speaker from Tankzone, but what is the best 'deal'?
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!

I'm a happy man. 8)

Hi Marco, If you go to ---
http://www.cpc.farnell
Type "Visaton speakers" into the search box,
You will find some even smaller "Visaton" speakers for very reasonable prices,
There are over 60, one is as small as 1.5Cms X 2.5 Cms with a thickness of 3.3mms.
Definitely worth a visit.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

You need to check the output speaker resistance of your chosen board, whether it is 4 or 8 ohms and match this to the speaker resistance.

You will find the prices for cpcfarnells much more competitive than rctank.de.

Thanks all! Do I still need a printed house for the Farnell-versions?

Does this compare?

the only problem i've with the visaton speakers is the paper cone. I was advised by a friend of mine (electronic engineer) that any paper cone of any brand will became damaged over time almost for sure by the pulses. And it advised me to look for mylar cones. This is a type of technical plastic.

after two of my visaton were damaged, i swapped them for 85mm mylar cone speakers. No more broken cones for me ;D

best regards

Aura are very good, no paper cone, but I bought visaton for the1/6 Hetzer (4 ohm) and they sound great.
When FDR coined the phrase "The Arsenal of Democracy", he was talking about Detroit. Proud to live in the 2nd most violent city in America!!
