There are a lot of people wondering about the answer to that one. If you buy a direct replacement then it will be expensive in view of the run time you will get out of it. I simply cut the interior out and dropped a normal Nimh battery in there. Much cheaper, a longer run time, and can be charged off a standard battery charger.

The battery that comes with the T-90 is actually a lipo battery so despite its size, it will run longer than the normal size NiMH. It is a 1800 mAh 2S lipo. Heng Long I believe is switching to lipo, as the Chally also comes with the same battery, but encase in a black plastic case that is the same size as the old NiMH. The givaway is the lipo balance charge plug in addition to the Tamiya plug.

I opened up the heng long lipo battery, although the one I opened is the normal size, like Michael said, it's just a case, the actual battery is nearly half the length of the case. The case is normal size in the Sherman and pershing.

Out of curiosity, is this one in the T-90 thinner?

Mick.
I'm not sure what exactly is "normal" size here. The largest battery I use is a 2500 mAh LiO battery for a vapourizer; so compared to that -I guess it is a lot thinner and smaller.

I've got one of these http://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-130 ... -mini.html Fits along the battery compartment, the space for the HL battery is used for the charge warning buzzer & cables.

Whatever you do don't charge this battery with the normal HL charger. It really won't like it.....

Hi,
" HL/Torro normal size battery" is a 6-cell NiMH Type with 7,2 V 1200 to 2000mAh the dimension are 135mm long x 48mm width x 24mm heigh
the new "Super Li-ion battery" is a 2S LiPo with 7,4V 1500 + 1800mAh the dimension approximately 50mm long x 40mm width x 15mm heigh

So it's actually smaller and thinner than the normal battery. Huh.

I've been tempted by these: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-500 ... roved.html Should fit in my tanks, and could also use them in my boats. I think the last Nimh's I bought were a similar price and nearly half the capacity.

Alternatively, if soldering skills are good, you can make up your own pack: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-500 ... -cell.html

I've asked my mate as I know he's done several of his own packs for his boats, think he does 6 or 7 cell packs though. According to the dimensions on the 1st link, it'd be tight, but should just fit the Bulldog/Pershing/Tiger, and give a very good run time! No idea of what size a T90 takes though, but I'm sure HK do shorter fatter packs, but their site isn't as easy to navigate as it once was.

This is what I meant, it's sold as being for transmitters, so a lot smaller:
