TAIGEN RECOIL UNIT WONT STOP FIRING

Post by HERMAN BIX »

Lads. Have a PzIV project to get ready for sale for a third party.
It has an alleged new Taigen recoil unit in it.
I have a factory Taigen Tiger 1 to plug it in to so I can get the barrel into normal position, so the thing can be sold off.
\Plugged all the correct fittings into the Tiger system and as soon as it is turned on, the barrel of the PzIV which is in full recoil, triggers the fire mode.
Traks jerk, flash ignites, and the sound works, but the damn barrel will not return to forward battery.
Yes, I have the odd coloured power supply connected as per the Tiger system into the new PzIV unit, so its not that.
Can get elevation, but it will not restore the barrel to forward battery.

Appreciate any advice , trust me, I really will :/ .........................

Good morning, Herman,
Make sure that you have the red\black\whatever the color of the weeks is, extra and loose ground\earth wire from the gun mechanism soldered to the ground\earth on the On\Off or Battery connection. That should do the trick. ( make sure you have the gun turned on after this if that vehicle is equipped with one of those turret on\off switches. ) You'll get it fixed.

I had the same problem trying to fit the Taigen recoil system into my Cromwell. I discovered that it's a quirk of this system that the gun will not return to battery if the red (yes, it should be black, but it's not..) earth lead is not connected
to the Battery connection. That so-called 'Tamiya' connection wire on the switch it the one to connect to, if it's there. Some on /off battery switches have an extra red connector; the so-called 'Tamiya lead' (but it's really an earth connector)
Here's an article on RCU about the problem. Scroll down to 'Tanker 10's' thoughts on the reluctant recoil issue..

In the end, I dumped the Taigen system in favour of the Clark, but that was for other reasons.
