Panzer IV Conversion
Hi Guys, so i have bought some more Henglong chassis for projects but also because i know a work colleague is looking to get into the RC tanks and i will be looking at selling one of my HL tanks to him for a project
So i have purchased a Panzer IV Chassis with metal suspension off ebay for probably too much money for what it is.
But my idea is to get some metal gearboxes for it cheap and then do a Panzer IV conversion e.g. Jagdpanzer Iv L48 or maybe possibly a Waffentrager conversion.
Any good conversion project pictures out there of either and useful build threads? I did look but not found much info

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
I know there have been a few beautiful conversions on this forum. Profiline makes some nice conversion kits. There's a few jagdpanzer kits and a brummbar . An-Bri also makes some. I've used his jagdpanzer kit.
Tanks alot....

Go into the show off section. There is a very nice jagdpanzer iv conversion there. Also a brummbar by the same gentleman (Louis).

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
i am obviously looking in the wrong sections of this site. Thanks for the pointer and links. Those conversions do look great. I never like to make things easy.
The Brummbar looks odd and interesting at the same time

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
He is quite a master of the conversion. He also did a Nashorn project as I was doing my Nashorn build.

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
Now there is a project Nashorn! Wow that would be a cool project.
Between the Panzer IV & Walker Bulldog project i am swaying towards the Panzer as there seems to be more open options. However i have fewer parts for the Panzer haha.
What i didn't realise is the Panzer IV i have just bought has metal suspension arms already upgraded and RX18 wiring pre-installed. But i have no top hull or turret at all or motors.
The simple plan is just to get the lower hull operational, so metal gearboxes and run standard plastic wheels but metal tracks and idlers etc.
Then i need to decide what to do with the top.

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
The gent who makes the Firefly conversion kits also does a Jagdpanzer IV. Forgebear has them here: http://www.forgebeartanks.com/store/p49 ... r_L70.html
I picked one up off eBay last year to re-do my old PzIV but started thinking about how I would add traverse to the main gun and put it aside for another day. At first glance it looks like a pretty nice kit.

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
a Brummbar conversion or Sturmgeschütz are possibilities
Really i just need to work out how many parts i need for these conversion kits and what i need to make and see what suits.
i only have the lower hull to start with suspension so clean slate..............

Re: Panzer IV Conversion
Some kits do require a lower profile set of motors, like for example the Profiline StuGIIID and others. Brummbar should have enough space haha!Will01Capri wrote:a Brummbar conversion or Sturmgeschütz are possibilities...
