It's amazing how cheap these things are. I've posted so many videos while holding my camera phone and the radio control. Much easier to operate I'm sure

I've had the tripod for a few years to film my railway. However the swivel part of the tripod has become loose - but there's no way to adjust it on the stand I have - but I guess they are cheap enough to buy another.

for me the problem is the 'fixed camera' issue, so a cameraman is needed with a micro travelling LOL! this is what we have in mind once the Panzodrom is finished, we plan to make some nice videos form the vehicles and soldiers perspective

I'm thinking in some way of attach a fixing for a camera on the tank itself. It must be something that will not damage the paint job, so no adhesive... maybe something like this (or based on this) joby action cam clamp



but it's too short, so the idea is to get something like this but bigger, or build it ourselves. In this way we can mount it to the rear of a tank turret and out the camera in any position, or on the rear deck...

The Gorilla tripods seem like a good idea. When I remember correctly, they are sold in different sizes.

This was how I solved the problem. I had a £50 GoPro style camera which comes with a hundred and one free attachments for mounting it to anything under the sun. I used one of the brackets on the back of the tx, and created another swivel bracket for the camera case.

Now I can clip and unclip the camera case, remove the camera from the case, and swivel the camera. Its all only an inch away from my grubby mitts, so I can start, stop and pause it with ease. It films whatever I am controlling.

Blue tack and opening hatch covers are the easy way of mounting a camera. Elastic bands help too.

I am planning a you tube epic with some fellow modellers with a naval flotilla tank landing and battle using camera drones for an air attack and go/pro's for the dramatic landing and battle.

This is my budget solution, a Manfrotto mobile phone tripod clamp attached to my tripod plate ( a removable steel plate on which you attach your camera on your tripod).

Then fitting the tripod plate on the tower with strong black tape and fitting the mobile phone on the clamp. Total costs 19.95 euros

If they phone you, simply stop the tank and say I am sorry but my phone is currently on a tank, please phone back later
