Is this Tamiya offer on Ebay legit?

Post by Blackadder123 »

There's this Tamiya Tiger offer on Ebay that seems a little odd. Currently at 110 Euros with 6 hrs to go, on auction, which seems a little low. Anyone have experience with buying 2nd hand tanks from Ebay? And would a Tamiya be difficult in terms of repairing and maintenance?

I don't know where you are based, but if it's the UK. you would be out of luck, if you won. It says "No shipping to the UK".

Also, apparently, it is being sold by a private seller who is able to take credit cards - somewhat unusual, to say the least.

Apparently the seller is also offering a Kyosho F1 combustion racer along with a Tamiya buggy for pretty low prices.... Not being familiar with Ebay at all I dunno if this is some scam scheme or just an impatient seller...

I'm located in Germany so that wouldn't be an issue. Again, being unfamiliar with Ebay, I'm not sure how the bidding patterns are. Do they stay below their "final price" for the majority of the auction and skyrocket in the remaining hour or so? Or are these current bids a good representation of what it'll cost?

Unsure about whether a Tamiya Tiger is worth it either compared to a regular upgraded HL/Taigen. In which category does Tamiya trump (sorry for using this word, lol) a good Taigen tank? Maintenance and repair would also be difficult as parts are likely rare and expensive and I'm not familiar with the Tamiya electronics infrastructure, having not built it myself.

Turns out the tank sold for 202 euros....... Well beyond what I was willing to pay. For this money you could have yourself a new Taigen that has all the spare parts available to repair/maintain......

And the price doubled in the last 30 mins, lol. It was fun to watch.

200 euros is cheap for a Tamiya tiger and radio.

I know which I'd have gone for.
