Hi, Panzer 1v tracks are slightly longer with more links, but the actual links are the same.

duckbill tracks???

Do you mean the winterketten??
They were the wide winter tracks fitted to P3, P4 and stugs

Winterketten are the blade type used in the early days of the conflict.
Ostketten came out later and were genuinely wider tracks and much more robust than the early blades type.
Yes, either version will fit a 3 or 4 .
Your Schurzen will need careful placement to clear the outer edge of the track though.

It'll depend on which particular vehicle you're modelling, Mick. Ostketten only appeared in 1944, so mid-production panzers and StuGs would have winterketten.

And to note also is that the Winterketten tracks pre-dated the Schurzen.
The top picture shows nicely the lack of Schurzen appendages.

They could not last once the snow melted and needed to be changed-an added logistics load, so the Ostketten were designed to allow much better snow operation but allowing the durability to handle dry terrain as well.

If you google the timeline of Winterketten and Schurzen, it makes for an interesting read.

Sweet as mate.
That Taigen PzIV is an F2/G version. Same as the H/L but better built I understand ?
Now Im no PzIV tragic, but the F2 was the first version with the 'long barrel' and it morphed into the 'G' after a few production mods.

It would certainly have had access to both Schurzen and Winterketten, and if it survived long enough, Ostketten.

I believe that timing wise, the Africa Korps were on the wane at the time things in Russia got really hectic, so any good gear would have been distributed to the focus point
