Self-constructed 1:16 Battlefield items
Besides tanks I like to fool around building more 1:16 diorama/battlefield items. Since I joined this forum I found many more of us do, like Panzodrom and other magnificent projects!
I'm certainly not on that level but would like to share some stuff that I make, and 'how'. Constructive critisism is always welcome, as are links to other inspiring projects or tips, I love to try and learn more!

Small sandbag-emplacement, fictional.
Empty CD cakebox.
Balsa wood
I LOVE to age my balsa wood using AK Products 'wash for DAK-vehicles. I you partly remove it after a minute or so the wood gets a nice aged look.
The sandbags are real, filled with salt. Still need to find a good way te close them properly. My current solution using loads of superglue is not very handy.
It's built to be put in a sandbox

Excellent. Always good to see new ideas. I love the use of the CD cakebox. Did you make your own sandbags? I can see one possible problem with using salt to fill them. Salt is hygroscopic and potentially could dissolve in the absorbed water.

Oops, I don't want the content of my sandbags to dissolve haha!
The CD cakebox was the result of looking around for 'something, anything!' to use... Next time I'll choose something a little bigger.
The sandbags are ordered from eBay, 100pcs for 9,99 or something like that, well worth it!

It's a bit late now, but you could try using the restaurant trick of putting a few grains of rice in with the salt. The rice would absorb the water first. It works with salt cellars!

I could try that, or simply use anything but salt!

Kiln dried sand is very fine. the main drawback is it comes in 25kg bags. Enough for several thousand 1:16 scale bags, I think.

Or you could just fill the sandbags with ground rice? Stick it in a coffee grinder, and instant dust.
