Re: Help needed with Taigen gearboxes
They are usually a strait swap. Just need to make sure you get the correct motor orientation (High/Low or Mid/Low), and the correct drive axle length.

What gearboxes are you wanting to put into what tank? there are sometimes exceptions to the rule.

Re: Help needed with Taigen gearboxes
I'm not 100% certain, but I think you'll want the Mid/Low, short shaft gearboxes for the HL Sherman.
Perhaps one of our resident Sherman guru's can be more specific.

Re: Help needed with Taigen gearboxes
Good morning,
I'm not a Sherman 'Guru' by any stretch of the imagination but my HL M4A3 'Maxene' is running Taigen black steel gearboxes. They were a straight swap out. As Roboticus mentioned, just make sure that you get the right set for your vehicles lower.
regards,

Re: Help needed with Taigen gearboxes
Was that the 4 shaft or 3 shaft gearboxes? It's probably different with HL, but I needed to grind down the metal transmission plate in the Taigen Sherman to fit the 4 shaft gearbox.PainlessWolf wrote:Good morning,

Re: Help needed with Taigen gearboxes
Oh yeah, It is a good idea to reinforce the gearbox mounts on the HL hull. The 4 shaft gearboxes will have a lot more torque. Some people will make a plate to mount them, but the easiest way is to cut brass tube and glue them to the pylons.Son of a gun-ner wrote: Thank you, I was going on being informed that the taigen steel Sherman boxes were for the metal chassis Sherman,
Therefore I was curious as to what if anything was needed to make them fit a heng long.
But, going on your answer which is good enough for me, I will acquire a set![]()

Re: Help needed with Taigen gearboxes
Hello!,
I can understand you having to alter the mounting plate on the metal Taigen Sherman for the 'Taigen' gearboxes, Roboticus. Their new models use different\specific components rather than the stock stuff like the gearboxes in Maxene which were manufactured to fit HL model vehicles. ( Sounds weird but it's true. Taigen shares a great deal more likeness with Torro nowadays than it does with HL )
