Anyone scratch built a M109style howitzer??

I was looking at the various tank hulls that are available as parts cheap and it occurred to me that given all the stuff(mechanical parts, etc) about it should be possible to build a reasonable replica of a M109 type self propelled gun.





You could do it as a "What if next Gen" using either M1A2 hull, Leo hull, Chally hull (for something like 208mm M110 sized howitzer) or maybe using a M41 or M26 hull for a smaller 155mm howitzer. Be interesting to have a go at as a project, one thing being the howitzers all have front mount engines so some chopping and changing would be required.

Scratchbuilding the upper hull would be fun.....

What have others done along these lines??
