Converting to IR with Mako?

Post by Rjag »

Any experiance with the Mako IR add-on for HL rx18? Seems fairly straight forward in the sales info. Can you still use a HL apple and emitter?

Thanks for any advise.

Hi Rjag,

I've installed the Mako 2 board in a few of my tanks with no problems, works ok with the 27 MHz RX18 in the Heng Long tanks and also with the 2.4 GHz Taigen unit, although if I remember correctly I had to swap the polarity of one of connections for that, but for the life of me I can't remember which! It's a cheap way of having a programmable battle unit and gaining compatibility with other systems, it works with the unmodified WSN T34 I also have, I've not tried it against a Tamiya battle unit but should work. Added plus is removing the track recoil when firing.

Cheers

I have had 2 Mako 2 units lying around for ages, that I just couldnt get to work properly, until I swapped the polarity on both ATRC outlets.

But I guess you are speaking of the new mako unit, without the ATRC ?
In that case, it should be even more simpel. Just plug and play :)

And yes, just use a standard HL/Taigen apple. Its just an IR receiver in a "tube" ;)
