Vallejo Air
Hey guy's
I've decided to switch over from Tamiya to Vallejo. Never tried this range. Would a single bottle cover a Kv? bear in mind I would heavily thin the paint as I want an almost opaque finish.
Best to order Vallejo thinner or any?
I always used Tamiya thinner for tam paints..normally recommended to use same brand.
Cheers
Jake

Re: Vallejo Air
I would try the Vallejo thinner, had many many struggles with Vallejo paints and went back to tamiya. Might be the proper thinner was the missing link.

Re: Vallejo Air
Hi Tom, yup think it's the best idea. Using just water to thin crossed my mind... maybe when I'm use to spraying with Vallejo I'll give water a go as it's not to bad with the Tam paints.

Re: Vallejo Air
The problem I had with Vallejo was they seemed to dry in the airbrush and would block it up, or you'd get dry clumps spraying through (this was with water), maybe something that retarded the dry time would help. I tried heavily thinning and couple get a sweet spot.Jake79 wrote:Hi Tom, yup think it's the best idea. Out of intrest what's prompted the switch?

Re: Vallejo Air
Ease of use predominately Tom, plus 17ml instead of 10ml..I like the idea of using the little dropper bottles saves messing with pipettes. Nothing wrong with Tam paints if I don't like these I'll go back..some of books I've read people seem to get great results with the Vallejo range.. so worth a pop I think.

Makes sense, I think I went over for similar reasons!
I would put in a good word for the mig ammo range. Same bottle (but with mixer ball) and best spraying paint I've ever used, colours great a single well.

I've heard good things about the Mig range, I might throw in a bottle of mig's 4BO in my order for comparisons. Think their similarly priced.

I'll only be needing the one colour as all shading will be pre base coat..using the B&W technique, basically black white and three different shades of gray, can also do pre weathering with this technique too. hence the opaque base finish.
