IBU2 BASE UNIT

Post by HERMAN BIX »

G'day lads. Been gifted an IBU2 base system.
No idea how to get the best out of it, but it is already fully functional and works well.
Just wondering if the SD card is replaced with another one, is it a straight swap or a complex cross over ?
Just looking to get a few frills in the sound set is all, but compared to all my other H/L kitted tanks, this is well fine as it is.

Hi Herman, I think Tankbear is the man to answer this for you for sure, but as far as I know you can take a micro SD card from one IBU to another and it will change that board to whatever tank is loaded on the SD card. Ian suggested I pick up some cheap SD cards for practice at selecting sounds and functions, and once I get everything the way I want it just load it in the board. I still haven't done that, but what do you want from a lazy old hippie like me? @) @)

Hi Herman, If you have a Micro Card reader then put the SD card in it and plug the reader into the computer and you can alter just about every setting written on the IBU 2 including the sound library.
A Micro-card reader is cheap as chips. No need for a second SD card.

I believe Ian has the SD card readers for about one or two pounds.

Herman, given your location you might want to check with Kevin at RCTA. He uses SD cards on the Juno board and may have readers for sale at a good price.

Herman, check my website in the download section there you can download MicroSD contents also a guide on how to format the card for IBU2 use.

I'm out at moment so can help later when I get home.

When I first got an IBU, I was in the same boat as you Herman..Ian's helped me out a lot..one thing I have done is brought a second SD card which has all the IBU files loaded as std..this is now in a safe place, just in case I completely screw up the one that's loaded
...btw..once you get it sorted you ain't going to want to drive any of you others because they'll sound dire compared to the IBU.. @)
remember...it's just a plastic tank... :/

You can just copy the entire SD card to your pc, that way all of the files are safe, and leaves the originals on the card. SD card readers can be found on Ebay from China, they are very little money, but as I discovered, some are better quality than others.

Just to add to Wibblys good and helpful advise,
Do make sure you buy a Card reader that has a slot for a MICRO-Card cos some do come without it.
