Hi Guys Been in the shed today stripping the Pershing down to see whats what ,while Ive had it stripped done a few mods .First took longer to strip than I thought the guy who built it did a good job didnt find anything wrong with what he had done ,found a bonus took a wheel off and behold its got the modified bearings allready fitted (this has saved me another £30 sorry welshdragon )
So with a smile on my face and everything on the bench first to get a mod was the speaker, nothing subtlie hear took the top off and cut down the side off the speaker with the hacksaw, then screwed the cover back on and cut that quick clean up with a file and glued a piece of plastic sheet to the side.
Next to get a mod were the gearboxes this is by way of an experiment have managed to get hold off 8 tooth pinions 2mm bore, opened up the holes to fit the shafts then filed the motor hole to allow the motor to move and mesh the gears ,this should give me a 20% reduction in gearing which should slow it and give it more torque .
Next was to fit I.R.emitter in the mantle very easy drill 6mm hole and fit tube with I.R.emmitter through the sight hole

Hi Stewart it does make alot more room inside might be able to sqweeze another battery in but will have to wait and see ,it definetley makes running the wires easy.

Hi Pete,

Fitting drive cogs with less teeth to get speed reduction is an excellent idea. If it works we will all be wanting you to supply us with them.  ;) ;D ;D

Cheers

by how much did you have to move the motors Pete, because I don't fancy stripping the pershing down just yet to make this modification

Hi Stewart If you take a close look at the photos you can see they have a double hole on one side for the motor mounting screw and the big hole is elongated in total about about 2mm .I didnt alter on of the hole in case it didnt work ,then I could return and use 10 tooth pinion .You will have to remove the gearboxes to alter them ,its alot off work but the mod dosnt take long to do ,you will also need a pinion puller .
