Track squeak sound question

Post by tao »

Curious how the random track squeak sounds are set up on some systems that do this. How long are the clips? Are they very short clips
played at random as the tank/engine sounds are going or a longer continuous loop that is triggered when the tank moves/stops.

On the ibu2 there are usually 5-6 'squieks that play's random . They can be turned on/off by editing the sound INI file on the SD card

On the IBU3 you can add them in sound slots in the programing software for the Board.

On the Clark ( tk60) it is included if the Clip we use the sound from has it
example here

How the other manufactors have solved it I dont know

Thanks! How long is each clip? Did you craft your own squeak clips?

On my ibu 2 I always turn them off. To me they sound like faded fog horns and just sound ...

But that's just me . I made my own, but they are play'd in a random way, and sounds just strange to me

you want some ? for ibu ?

No I don't have the IBU I was looking over the TCB board and curious how that works. The squeaks you did sounded good on the video though!
I was also thinking a long track squeaking loop that just plays over the engine sound might sound more realistic. I did that with a stick trigger on the as a dyn fade in loop and fade out but it has to be manually triggered which is also tricky and doesn't always work well. But yes if you email
some of those squeaks I like to listen and also see the duration as that video sounded good to me. Thanks!

Oh looking more carefully at the various ways you pointed out..it sounds (no pun intended) that the best sounding version using
the TK 60 has a version where the engine sound clip has the squeaks and other sounds integrated into the sound clip.

Nice thanks! I think a good solution too is to allow a longer loop to be played over the engine sound upon movement
rather than trying to insert small sounds randomly. I tried it and it works well but with BARC/TBS it has to be manually
triggered which is awkward.

I've blended track running sounds into my engine loops, that way they're proportional with the tank's speed. I agree with Max, randomly inserted ones always seem to sound wrong.
