RC conversion for 1:35 scale
RC conversion for 1:35 scale
Hi,
First of all, I would like to apologise if this topic has been raised before, I tried searching for answers both on the web and this forum, but couldn't get any. Please direct me if there is a similar topic raised
I am very much interested in converting a 1:35 scale tank (no brand preference) into a RC type. I know there is a website 35rctank and tamiya selling very good 1:35 scale rc tanks, but 35rctank has stop production until further notice, and tamiya 1:35 RC tanks are way above my budget.
May i know if there is someone here who is into this scale conversion? If possible, can provide instructions and list of materials to purchase? There are a few youtubes around made in korea, but they don't come with instructions etc. So i guessed this forum would be the best place look into.
Many thanks and have a great year modelling!

Re: RC conversion for 1:35 scale
As a diy project then you could maybe look at some of the cheap tank 'toys' that are approx 1/35 and use those as parts donors? I have done this when building model trucks.
This is an example
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Radio-Rem ... Vr-Viz-8Ag
It bears only passing resemblance to a tiger but you can maybe scavenge the running gear and electronics to use in a decent 1/35 model tank?
I have even contacted the sellers to buy non-runner or faulty tanks cheaply to scavenge the bits.

Re: RC conversion for 1:35 scale
I started a conversion of the Tamiya Mark IV 1/35 using a dual motor gearbox instead of the kit single motor.
The issue is moveable track links. Fruils, MKs, etc won't work well. The Tamiya 1/35s use rubber bands tracks.
All the functions, elevation, rotation, recoil and steering can be done with existing servos and escs like in 1/16, but it's even harder in 1/35 due to size constraints.
It's not a beginner project by any stretch. Maybe you can find the older Tamiya RC tanks in 1/35, they used to cost under $100 and included the Tx/Rx. They didn't have sound, elevation or recoil, but you could start with them and expand over time.

What, me worry?

Re: RC conversion for 1:35 scale
In theory Clark is doing 1/35. Unfortunately those units have been TBD for over two years now.
They sounded great, Tamiya compatible IR in 1/35, I was all set to drop all my 1/16 and set up a battlefield indoors. Just think how much detail you could set up inside with all the buildings and kits available in 1/35.
They originally had a release date (I think in '14) and I was ready to pounce. I checked in with them periodically but eventually just gave up.

Re: RC conversion for 1:35 scale
yes, have checked out clark and contacted them too, still TBD.. my reason for liking 1:35 scale RC is also same as ausf, can do indoor battlefield... 1:16 too big.
i am also waiting for 35rctank, also tbd
