Taigen Tiger 1 on pantiger base

Post by lifeofbrian »

I understand that the Taigen Pantiger base is a Tiger 1, but before I purchase a Tiger 1 upper hull I need to make sure that it is a direct fit with no modifications needed. I have looked at some pics of the Tiger 1 top and I notice that the mounting holes are in a different place, is this just because the hulls are different sizes or are the mounting points different, or is is because the Tiger 1 I'm looking at is Heng Long?

Could be because the Tiger mounting points have changed in recent times. My Heng Long Tiger 1 upper hull has front mounting points different to the Taigen after-market lower.

Some little while ago someone was trying to fit a Heng Long Tiger1 body onto a Taigen Tiger1 Metal Hull which is something quite a few of us have done with no problem but this one did not fit and Dave (FORGEBEAR) revealed the unknown (To Me) fact that the Heng Long Body front mounts had been changed.
I have never used the Heng Long mounts to hold the Body to the Hull so I have not suffered this problem,
Have you thought of "Neodymium Magnets" ?
I fit them in place of the Taigen quick release because they are far less stressful on the plastic surrounding the release mechanism.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
