Aber Fire extinguisher
Just bought the Aber 1;16 fire extinguisher for my Tiger 1, not had much experience of these updates, and was wondering if there's a preferred method of building them? In the past I have used 'super glue' on etched brass etc, but I've heard some say I'd be better using solder to join them? anyone got any ideas? not had any experience at all of soldering update parts.

Re: Aber Fire extinguisher
Hi, To solder PE (Photo Etch) you need Practice with the right tools and a soldering iron and a spool of solder are NOT the right tools,
My tools are---
A "Nimrod Model Solderpro-50K Butane burner",
a Tub of "Fryolux Paint" and a small paint brush,
Before I go any further a warning,
"Fryolux Paint" is extraordinarily TOXIC, Do not let it near Pets or Children,
You paint the Fryolux Paint along the join and apply the flame from the Burner and it will produce a really professional looking join,
BUT do practice first.
The "Fryolux Paint" can be bought from "Maplins" and is very expensive, But it lasts forever and is actually very good value,
if you go on E-BAY you will find the burner which comes with a choice of tips.
I used to detest soldering but using this method has totally changed my attitude to soldering,
it also makes working with PE almost easy although you will always need the eyes of a sh*thouse rat and the dexterity of a skilled surgeon.
Shaun.

I think I am about to upset someone

You can most definitely make photo etch with a spool of solder and an iron, however Shaun I don't doubt your method it much easier and involves less sweary words!
