JAGDPANTHER SCHURZEN - cheap

Post by HERMAN BIX »

Want to do a set of Schurzen on my Jagdpsnther while eating on parts for my Jagdtiger to arrive.
Rather than buy the set from Germany, I want to make it.
Brass while nice, is also a bit awkward to work with to make the hanger holes and material is not easy to get here.
I asked out loud as s joke " anyone got any 0.6mm plastic in their pocket '?
Mrs B wandered out later with an Emerites Airlines plastic bag tag.
Same size as a credit card, exactly the right thickness, and large enough to make one panel out of !!!

She is off to the airport on the way to see a friend and will pick up another 9
Pics when I can

Ok, now I am trying to picture a Jagdpanther with UAE Airlines plastered down the sides. I can't see it catching on personally, but you never know..... :shifty:

Well.................heres a story

Trip up the motorway to a friends house, about 110kms one way.
Drops oldest daughter off at huge shopping centre on the way(near airport) to be picked up on return leg.
Visits
Returns to shopping centre & recovers daughter & 20 ft shipping container of purchases...............
Goes to airport for bag tags
Pays $25 for parking
Gets me 30 bag tags
Daughter goes into terminal, secures another 30 tags
Leave for return leg
Via Maccas
get lost & end up back on airport access road
Loop and leave...........
2nd attempt at maccas
get lost in a new way and
end up back on airport access road..........
Abandon maccas & head to motorway
Via gas station
nearest one has the bloody maccas thay were looking for in it !
Fuel, maccas, head for home(with 60 tags)
Massive gravel spill on home end of motorway
traffic banked up some 20kms
4 hours to get home
Little kids over it & off-tap

So, fuel burn, parking, and allowable wear & tear on vehicle, maccas and stress...................should have bought the set from Germany !!!

BEST I DONT F%%$# UP THE SCHURZEN AFTER ALL THAT EH :wtf: :wtf: :/

I will cut the panels and punch the hanger slots using a bit of brass rectangular section tube filed sharp.
Sand off the faces and prime with good self-etching red primer.
I have enough material for 5 sets !!!
Still need to make the hangers out of brass flat bar bent up, but this will work.

As for cheaper than buying a set from Tank.modleblau = NO !!!
