When I take off the chuck and front handle from my Dremel, I have a threaded drive shaft and a large thread where the retaining nut goes. Looking at a similar cable from an old drill, inside the chrome end should be the end of the flexible drive with a female thread which fits on the drive shaft.. The chrome thread ought to fit on the large thread on the body of the drill. It is difficult to get the proper perspective and relative size from the photos.

No -you take the chuck off. The chuck fits on a threaded drive shaft. There should be a flexible shaft inside the outer casing of the accessory. This should also have a threaded end which fits on the Dremel's drive shaft. The chrome end should screw direct on to the Dremel.

This shows the business end of my Dremel stripped down.

This shows the end of the flexible drive shaft, with corresponding threads.
As I said, this is from a different drill, and the thread for the shaft connections are incompatible.

I gotta ask: Do you really want to hold something that's spinning at 10-40,000 RPM that only costs 3 pounds?
