Torro 1/16 RC German Tiger 1 IR Tank + Clark TK22 Controller

Post by Timm53 »

Hi Guys,
Just a quick question. I have recently purchased the above tank (Torro 1/16 RC German Tiger 1 IR Tank 2.4GHz Metal Grey Early) and looking at upgrading the main board to the Clark TK22-1 which has the Tiger sound. Question is what transmitter would you recommend in getting for these 2 items to work. And what ever transmitter I get would I need to buy the receiver seperatly or would this come with one?
Regards
Timm

Hi, First things first, SLOW DOWN !!!
If you are going to buy an aftermarket control board have you examined what is available and do any of these alternatives offer advantages that the others do not?
Initially there is the CLARK T22 BUT CLARK have the T60 which is a major update on the T22 ,
There is the IBU 2 which is usually accepted to be superior to the T22, The IBU 2 has the option "PRO" as well as an improved sound board in the TPA option, the newest member of the IBU family is the IBU3 which offers greater abilities than the "2" but is at the beginning of its journey and we are all still learning what it can give us and then there is the---
"RCTA" ASP Board which has been recently uprated and the new version is just being delivered,
That is some of the more popular boards available, there are others,
Now to dimensions,
The smallest is the CLARK which fits within the TAIGEN/HENG LONG control board holder (Not many people know that) the next is the ASP which is roughly the same width as the CLARK but a little longer and lastly comes the IBU series all of which are a little bigger but an easy fit in a Tiger1,
All of these boards support I/R as well as the Airsoft/BB tanks.
When considering a Transmitter there is a major difference between one being used to Fly R/C Aircraft and Land vehicles, for our purpose Tanks,
And that is sound.
I am not aware of any Tank specific Transmitter which is why most of them have no rotary or slider controls which you will need to control the volume emanating from your Tank.
TURNIGY/FLYSKY make transmitters with (3)rotary controls and multi -channels at reasonable prices the initial purchase of a NEW transmitter usually includes a Receiver BUT CHECK before buying.
To get the best from your transmitter you will need To download Tank software into it otherwise you will be "FLYING" your Tank, a lot of us have done it but it is a pain you can do without.
Some useful addresses are--- for the ASP

For the IBU2 and 3 go to ----

Ian is the man at IBU and he is a very helpful member of this Forum going under the Non De Plume "TANKBEAR"
I cannot find the CLARK website but when I do I shall edit this entry to include it. FOUND IT !! GO TO---

Timm , Do ask IAN whether the transmitter has the Tank Software loaded,
I bought a TURNIGY TGY 9x from him and it was included,
It makes the hobby a joy from day one.
If he has a 9 channel radio available I would go for that,
You will be amazed how much more fun a few more channels offer.
Shaun.
