Hi all
I am new on here, I brought a second hand Heng long tiger off Ebay for my little boy, it just happened that I had been eyeing them up for a while and I figured that by not spending too much it would not matter if it was not that good. The first thing that went wrong was a drive sprocket coming off, easy fix, followed by sonny throwing the transmitter on the floor, this broke a pin off one of the stick gimbal , this was fixed with a little self tapper and a washer and I found the forward and reverse pot had come loose which explained why it's control was somewhat erratic..
A problem I have has less success with is its gun, it does not work, if you push the stick up the warning LED flickers briefly but the gun wont work, it will fire and does its recoil thing and everything else works, it has sound and smoke and what appear to be white metal gears. I took it apart and metered out the gun on off switch which appeared fine and looked for loose wI respect and did not find any problems, the gun motor makes no attempt to work at all but I have not tested it on its own, what voltage is it? I checked the contacts on the stick and they seem fine, the gun did not work before the transmitter "accident" .
I really like the tank and it drives really well now after some fiddling but it wold be better with a gun to shoot lego men, or a T34 another fave. I am somewhat inspired by the build features on here and may go for a few upgrades and a paint job as my son has remarked that real army tanks look bashed up. I hope someone on here has an idea where to look for the problem, thanks Bill.

Good afternoon,
Under the Loader's hatch on the turret is a small on\off switch. This is on?
regards,
Painless

Thanks for the reply, I have checked the switch with a meter and it appears fine, the gun does fire in that it makes the sound and does its recoil thing but it won't fire the pellets, as the stick is pushed upwards the LED flickers but does not stay on. All the other things work fine now and it goes really well, I can see how they are a bit addictive, it the garage there is an ancient Tamiya Sherman and I am wondering if a heng long turret can be grafted on .
Re: Tiger does not bite..
Are you sure this is a bb firing tank and not an ir version as I've had a few bb firing Heng longs and the barrel didn't recoil on them.
Re: Tiger does not bite..
Morning, thanks for the interest,
By recoil thing I meant that when you push the K button it makes the firing sound and the whole tank shifts back and forth the simulate recoil, but if you hold the stick up ton fire a BB the warning LED does not illuminate but briefly flickers, and the is no activity at all from the gun motor.

Re: Tiger does not bite..
sounds like a jammed unit if you have the tank apart you will see on the bb unit a black j shape clip on the side with the wires if you undo the screw and take it off gently push the motor out of the bb unit then give it a go on the stick see if the motor works if all good then the unit is stuck
hope this helps dave

Re: Tiger does not bite..
Put the Tamiya Sherman onto eBay..you'll get a good way toward the price of a HL Sherman.
remember...it's just a plastic tank...

Re: Tiger does not bite..
Thanks for the help
I will open it up and have another look, I know the part you mean, if I disconnected the gun to check it separately what voltage is it, battery voltage? As for the Sherman it's getting on for forty years old and while the running gear is a thing of beauty the tank itself is very basic so I thought it might make an interesting fixer upper..... if I find the time.
