Torro vs taigen

Post by Nightrider »

I am sure it's been asked before but is it worth paying more to get a torro King tiger tank over a taigen King tiger tank
If so what is the benefits to a torro to justify the price ?
Cheers Ben.

The TRUE TORRO King Tiger has a metal chassis, turret, road wheels, etc. and has the production( Henshel) turret. The Taigen King Tiger has the plastic chassis and Porsche turret which is plastic. There are some other differences as well. So it's going to depend on what you're looking for and how much you want to spend.

I have the Torro King Tiger and it's been a great tank. I bought it from Taigen/IMEX, they sell both the Torro and Taigen King Tigers. Also, it does not come with the wooden crate in the US.Image

I don't have a Torro yet (waiting for it to arrive) but my Taigen T1s and Porsche turret KT will all move at a crawl if you just tweet the drive joystick gently. From the photos I've seen the gearboxes look the same - steel sprockets.

There both on the same 2.4 radio system and bother can be made to go slower than the standard go kart henglong, But as for quality I'd say as both of these are top spec of there type the Taigen wins every time , it looks and feels better quality, and the standard of finish looks better.

When I look at the Torro-shop website I see tanks that appear to be Heng Long but being sold under the Torro name. If you look at the paint scheme alone on the King tiger, it is a Heng Long tank. If you look at the Taigen site, you won't see that same paint scheme. So my point is, just because Amazon sells rc tanks, that doesn't make it an Amazon tank. Now, I am just comparing what I actually own and have seen in person. Maybe what you guys are buying in Europe is different then what we can buy in the US from US dealers. Here, when you sit a Heng Long, Taigen, and Torro King Tiger side by side, Torro wins. I am also aware that just because you pay more for a tank doesn't necessarily make it better than the other.

Hi again thanks for the comments
I must admit it's all a bit confusing when it comes to the choosing a tank indeed the toro do look like a heng long tank but they are different in there actions and the taigen seem to be on par with torro except the turret and suspension and chassis are metal although they say chassis more like the bottom plate is metal and not forgetting the gearboxes but that said is a great piece of work and I cannot wait to get one Evan excited but didn't want to buy a torro the find its a taigen in a fancy box.
Is there any difference in the sound systems on the torro taigen or are they the same as the controller looks identical just with a different sticker.

Some years ago I decided to buy a better quality Tank than the "Heng Long" products I already owned and went for a "TORRO" Tiger 1,
It arrived with a pleasing although no better than my own efforts Paint job, I ran it and I quickly drew the conclusion that what I had was a repainted HENG LONG Tank,
Shortly after that I got out the Dremel and the ZAP 7 Debonder,
I stripped the paint and just about everything else, Replacing the cheapo gearboxes for "TAIGEN" 5/1s and stripping out the control board for an IBU2 Pro and rebuilding the body in the pattern of an early (Tunisian) Tiger 1.
I also replaced the PLASTIC tools for Metal tools.
I like the wooden box it came in but the Tank with or without the box was not worth the extra it cost over that of a Heng Long Tiger 1.
I conclude with the word DISAPPOINTED.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
