Cappy reporting for duty

Post by Cappy »

Hi All I'm a newbie to the RC Tank world and am awaiting delivery of my first tank - Taigen Pershing. I didn't think it would be hard to find a decent retailer and was about to give up. I looked at NitroTek but thankfully saw the reviews of them and discussions on FB about them so moved on. I originally placed an order with Speedy Models but despite them showing on their website they had one in stock it turned out they didn't. Took me two messages left on their voicemail and two emails before they admitted it but give them their due they refunded me immediately.
It turns out the place I'm getting mine from is literally just round the corner from me, RC Toy World. So I've had a chat with Barrie who runs it and he's ordered me one.
Now myself and a colleague are getting into this world of Tanks as we are both involved with a local Aviation Heritage Museum here in Suffolk. We both though it would be a good idea to start up Tank Battle area for our special events. This was an idea on the back of a Model event we held last year. A chap brought along his RC Tank and the visitors flocked to see it and the kids lined up to have a go. My colleague has already got his Taigen Tiger 1 (from RC Toy World) and when I get my Pershing we'll be set up. We have quite a bit of land at the Museum and in October we are holding a Vintage Vehicle day. Hopefully there will be a number of vehicles and it is at that event we're hoping to stage a mock Tank Battle. I'm currently building a small area up with walls, and some simple buildings but the plan is if it takes off we will build a village area for our Battles. I can see some more Tanks being purchased in the future.
As for me well I'm now 2 years retired after working for 42 years with BT. So I have lots of time on my hands for all this Tank malarky, oh and my Action Man collection (300 figures and loads of vehicles) and building a Lego town.

Cappy, Hi. and Welcome to the Forum,   .
Thank you for showing me a new point of access for RC Armour, (RC TOY WORLD) New to me but I shall be looking through its pages to see what to spend my inheritance on :lolno:
Be advised that this hobby and its inherent expence will not hold up as an excuse in the Bankruptcy court :lolno:
Enjoy our/your Forum, it combines at its best erudition and fun, long may it continue BUT it requires regular input for that to happen so please talk to us.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

G'day Mr Cappy, glad youre jumping in to the pool that is RC Tanks
Ask most of us, when we jumped in, it was fully clothed & after a big night out................fast-forward, our wallets are empty, we are missing shoes, and the strangers that cohabitate our houses cant speak our 'language' :shifty: but we can recite German sites that can send us parts, and know how to get the best out of a shower curtain for a tank part :O ............... :haha:

Enjoy your time here, please complete what you start, and even more please - post your story in pictures (Thats for Mr Jarndice-hes on picture reference only !!)

Thanks all for your kind welcome. I'm used to my hobbies swallowing up wads of cash. I have a large collection of Action Man which has probably cost me £k's and also Lego. Just can't wait to get my hands on my Pershing when it arrives

Welcome!

You should come along to our meet on Saturday - gives you an idea of a big battle area and what you'll need.

It's only two hours from you - I know as I collected a tank from Bury a few weeks back :D
