G'day mate and welcome along
Best place to start in all honesty is in the bad bit !
Look over the recommended vendors section, then look into the blacklist section and avoid them !

Please feel free to ask anything you like.................if its important enough to ask=-its important enough to be answered .
We we all new once and had questions I bet we wished were asked before we made an ass of things !!

I cant be much help with Shermans Im afraid..........those things have more possible combinations than an olive-drab Rubiks Cube :haha: but there are plenty of Shermaholics here that can point you straight.

As we all seem to suffer short attension spanns and spel badly, pictures are the best way of getting things across, so the more of them-the mary'r !!

Go to FORUMS on the header and CLICK, then scroll down until you get to the BLACKLIST, and again CLICK, Read in horror, and then go to the RECOMMENDED DEALERS Section, certain in the knowledge that your money and your peace of mind are safe.

Not brands as such, more people that sell them !
As I say to people in my line of work, "your ability to achieve is limited by your imagination, and your ability to pay for it"

Begin with a version that offers plenty of parts upgrades, and if you are just testing the water, not much outlay.
If you decide to strip off and jump in, in all your glory, refer my second-top line !!

Do you have a pictured Tank in mind to build ?
Thats always a good start

That depends on how accurate you want it to be, If you want a Sherman that needs alterations you would be advised to avoid a full metal MATO Tank.
If you want a Sherman in metal that is ready to run and looks ok then by all means spend money (A LOT OF MONEY) on MATOs M4.
An ABS bodied Tank can be readily drilled ,filed, sawn and in all other ways altered and if you make a mistake a wipe over with a decent filler and all is well whereas working on a metal bodied Tank is pure hard work and very easy to get wrong.
I know some people swear by them, I wouldn't give them houseroom.
