Gepard resto - some connections problems

Hello
I just got this lovely old Gepard in a summer auction
most of it seems to be working
there is a bec I think that's what it is
and there is a long wire coming from the turret
I am not sure where to connect these wires

the turret doesn't rotate yet and the guns don' elevate either and the radar motor doesn't turn yet
any help much appreciated
and or suggestions too

thanks yes I have the manual but the PO has made some mods

anyhow I realised the bec is the input for the rear leds
and I put power through the turret wires and got some positive sounds
they were soldered to some power input but where ?

I am not really sure that I understand the way the turret rotation functions on a 2 channel system where both channels are used for steering,

I could just plug them into power from the RX but they would be on all the time

Hi My early Gepard had only 2 wires to the turret pivot point (which was also a simple slip ring) and they was for the turret rotation only. The Elevation was a fixed mechanical cam that lifted and dropped the gun barrels as the turret rotated.
The Radar unit was a self contained motor/gearbox and 1 AA battery in the box under the radar unit and a simple on/off switch under the main Turret Hatch.

Yep you are correct
I connected it all up to the motor and it works for now
but the elevation cam slips a little and the turret is so stiff a fit that the tiny motor will never spin it round - lots of work to get it even to a reasonable state

Hi Looks an interesting project, first thing I would change is the speed controller for an ESC this will solve any movement problems with the tank its self , the mechanical type are not as easy to control the tank. It is possible to use a board with sound on such as the IBU this will give you control and sounds , I think it can be done without changing the gearbox , it may also be possible to drive the other parts of the tank turret and gun elevation from the board also switch on radar remotely.

P.S. if you are using 2,4 ghz radio or an other digital radio you may have servo twitch if the servos are very old they may be analogue not digital.

yes there was a LOT of servo twitch
but I have decided to sell it and go for something a little simpler
maybe a Leo 1A4, Tiger or a HL bucket case to restore
