RC switch for turning on/off up to 30 volts

Post by tao »

This is a neat little RC device that perhaps many people already use but I was thinking of using a radio channel to
turn my acoustic smoke unit on or off from the radio.

Nice little video showing hook up with various set ups.

Great! I just ordered two as it looks perfect for turning on/off any electrical device under 30 volts (will use gear switch on radio for smoke unit)

Seems to be an easy way to turn the whole tank on from the radio too without trying to hide an external switch etc.

Duh I just thought that through..the power would have to be on the receiver for that to work. But it is still a great tool for turning other things on/off like smoke units etc.

Just wired it into the positive lead to smoke unit..works great. Plugged into gear channel on receiver then just toggle on or off smoke unit via gear switch on radio. Also a cool feature of the TBS is you can also plug it into on of the servo ports and use engine start stop sounds to switch the smoke unit on/off. Fyi..the reason I wanted to do this in the first place was with the acoustic smoker all sounds trigger smoke so this allows me to shut engine down and fire cannon without smoke from the exhaust being triggered.

For what acoustic smoke unit? The building thread is here under smokers-acoustic by Normand. It is really all there. My only change is
I used the TARR I for the basis of the smoke unit and mounted the cup and speaker to the top using all of the parts and specs in the build.
I am using a Benedini sound system and splitting the signal into two amps to speakers (one main speaker and one for the acoustic speaker)
