Tiger 1 Engine grill mesh

Hi.
    Ive read that the engine grills on Tiger 1 tanks had two mesh grills . The lower one a finer mesh . I cant find any wartime pictures to back this up . Can any one help please  ??? Also was it done on all Tiger 1 tanks including the last versions produced as mines a post April '44 version .

the front grills did have twin mesh and one was finner that the other the rear grills didn't have this feature, all Tiger I had this feature from initial models through to late models, hear are a few pictures of my 1/6 Tiger showing the mesh covers

thanks for the pics Rivet, sis you use the mesh off a spltter guard for the finer meshing? and if so did you solder or glue it to the brass?

Hi Rivetcounter,
Thanks for that . You have a nice tank there Id love a 1/6 th scale Tiger I could make one as my dads a model enginer he makes steam trains and traction engines , its just the wheels and tracks . Were I used to work before it shut down we had a foundry so could of had cast track links , shame . But thanks for the advice something Im going to sort now .

Hi Madfox,
  Im curently out of work so I bought some mesh things from poundland and its a lot tighter a mesh than the ones on my tank so Im going to cut some from that . And being there under the other ones they should look ok.

yeah picked a couple up from poundland myself, as I thought they would come in useful for something, think I'll have a crack at this myself as I have the etched Brass grills.

I soldered the fine mesh to the larger mesh then it will be glued in place with Araldite

I have a Tiger1 (1/6) and I would like to add mesh covers to the rear engine decks and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to where I could obtain some?
