ABRAMS ADVICE

Post by jeman »

Hi Guys,
I've just made these small detail bits (in grey) on the front and don't know where they go to towards the headlights ? so I have left them both long so as and when I know I will cut them to length...................any ideas ?

I've got a few photos of the Australian army's Abrams that show that bit, hope they might be of some help. Couldn't find anything clearer or closer up, though.

This is what you are looking for. It is the torsion bar that holds the front fender down but allows it to displace when needed. It has two eyelets along the upper leg that spans the width of the sponson. You can just make out one of them in the upper center of the right photo.

The torsion bar is "spring" loaded down and when the forward end is pulled up and placed in the "J" clip circled it keeps the fender down.

Cheers,
Barry
