Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but I thought you guys would know.
I'm basing all my tanks around the Normandy - Bastogne era, and I wanted to base a Tiger 1 on this division's tanks. I know at the time they had 3 Tigers left, im just having great trouble finidng any pictures of them. Does anyone know the colour scheme they used? Whether they were early, mid, or late? What turret numbers the Tigers had? Did they have a Division logo?
The lack of pictures may prove beneficial, as I can apply some creative licence, but I do want to base it on their actual machines.
Cheers,
Rik

Re: Panzer Lehr Division
the panzer Lehr divisional marking can be found here.... http://www.kompanie1.co.uk/ it may also prove fruitful to shoot off an email to them as usually these reenactment groups have a very good knowledge of the units they are portraying.
1 H/L Tiger in lots of bits being sorted

According to Panzer Colours Volume 2, The Division when formed had a Battalion each of Panthers, Panzer IV's and Tigers.

You have indeed oz. I know they did have attached Tigers, and did fight with some KT's in the Ardennes according to some sources. No-one knows exactly what happened to their Tigers, they had 3 left at the time of Normandy, but no-body seems to know what happened to them.
Maybe I can just be inventive

This has been discussed on the Axis history forum, Lehr Fkl 316 http://www.tiif.de/thread.php?threadid= ... 7636d47736 had 6 Tiger II with Porsche turrets these are the ones with very large numbers plain yellow no camo these where the first Tiger II from the production line and suffered many break downs they are also some of the very limited number of Tigers that the Americans fought against in the Normandy campaign, most where destroyed by there crews due to break downs.

There are reportedly 3 Tiger I that served with Lehr they where on there inventory at this time 3 destroyed Tigers where found which where early types with drum couplers which where a mystery as the 3 Abteilungs serving there had newer Tigers there camo patterns also didn't match any of these abteilung so are believed to be the missing Lehr Tigers as far as I know no known pictures exist,

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Re: Panzer Lehr Division
Thank you Rivet, that was fascinating. So there was a good chance of Lehr having a few Tigers in Normandy.
As there are no pictures, I guess I can be inventive.

Re: Panzer Lehr Division
why not, don't forget they would have been used for training so you want parts missing and plugs where impact marks have been filled, if memory serves me right DR had two Tigers that received something like 150 hits (Guess it may be less) from various caliber rounds both where returned to Germany one was sent to a training school so as new recruits could see just how safe they would be in a Tiger, this would also instill confidence

Re: Panzer Lehr Division
That would look good, im either going to go for that or Tiger 300 from s.px.abt 503. I found one picture of it reversing under a smokescreen, but can't find anymore.
Time to buy a lot of books I think, lol.
