Heng Long should do tanks in kit form!

Post by Phil »

Just an observation really, looking through this forum most of us take our tanks apart (can't be helped its just a weakness) for rebuilding and adding bits, re spraying and cut and shut!

Mr/Mrs Heng Long, can we have our tanks in kit form please, save a lot of time for both of us!

Phil ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi It would be a good idea if we could also be able to customise at the same time metal tracks /3:1 gearboxes /metal suspension ect ,then we wouldnt end up with a load of plastic bits we dont use and cant sell .

Now thats a good idea...

Wonder if they would be cheaper?

Even better, dont sell the tanks in kit at all. If they were canny they should have built ones for those that wanted built kits and then an online catalogue of parts that you could nip along and chuck in a shopping basket.

Make things a lot easier.

I get the impression that the Mato Sherman is sort of intended to move down that path, but its all going to be decided by how well the initial releases do.
I can't see Heng Long going that way as their target audience is upmarket toys, but if they can carry on shifting enough new product then Mato can hang on to their coat tails and develope their line for the more decerning enthusiasts out there

I could tell you what would become of the glue monkey if I got my hands on him - but this is a family forum...!

I doubt Mato will go much further than offering a bag of tools with the basic tank (ala the Pz IV), and a range of replacement turret / gun kits: ie M36 turret upgrade for the M10 and M4A3, 17pounder gun barrel for the M10, Grant turret and 75mm gun counter weight for the M3 Lee etc... Not perfect, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick ;D

i think the glue monkey just goes around the factory with the biggest tube of glue it can find and the broadest nozzle and just squirts it willy nilly over bits of the tanks, same as the oil monkey, jeez you wouldnt belive where he squirts the stuff lol

forgot to say, I reckon kit form would be great, hope they pick up on the idea.
be nice if they do other stuff too like other afv's, AT/flak guns and trucks :)

Oh yeah, the oil monkey is going to get way worse than the glue monkey! I now order IR LED's and DBU harnesses ahead of time from The Blitz because I am sick of painting the tank and then taking it apart to fit the IR system, and then getting the whole lot covered in greasy finger prints from the airsoft unit as I wrestle the turret back together...!!!

funny but I have been thinking on this the last couple of days, it may be a simple matter of flooding their customer services with requests for the tanks in kit form, you never know they may catch on to the idea, you don't know till you try, and we could at least try....

Anyone got their customer services email addy handy?
