IBU3 main gun sounds.
I finally figured out how to upload sounds to my IBU3 with the help and patience from Tankbear however I seem to be having a problem with the main gun sounds.
The main guns sound is so weak compared to the engine and machine gun sounds that honestly you barely hear it. If the tank is more then 15 feet away you don't hear it at all, all you hear is the engine sound. Now I can remember when I was in the Army and an M1 would fire it's 120mm gun you'd hear it over the engine rather easily.
So what am I doing wrong? When I test fire it on the bench through the laptop it's not bad but when I fire the tanks main gun with the transmitter all you hear is the air soft gun firing and getting ready for the next shot.
If I'm not doing anything wrong I hope a fix for this is in terms works, it's the only drawback I see to the 3 over the 2.

I have the same problem with my ibu2 base and leopard sound set when running one speaker, but it's fine with TPA and 2 speakers, any ideas welcome!

Recording volume and or play back volume? if messing in Audacity, although I don't remember specifically that you can change the volume for a playback file louder than the original...
There is a program (that I use) for MP3's created with Audacity, called MP3 Gain that changes output file volume. I don't know that there is one for .wav files however.
Quick google-foo says wave normalizer with wave gain - see : http://www.thefreewindows.com/11836/wav ... lbum-gain/
Hope that leads to something.

Re: IBU3 main gun sounds.
Play back volume here as well. Audacity can't work with the sound files from rc tank electronics due to encrypting of the sound files.
The IBU2 has the abilities to add an amp module and independently adjust the volume of the gun sound or engine sound the 3 does not.

Re: IBU3 main gun sounds.
The issue is recorded sample used.
It is reasonably easy to get sound samples for tank engines by going to museums on show days, and machine guns from you tube clips but it's quite hard to stand next to a tank recording it when it fires a round, even so of WW2 tanks so only left with samples taken from recorded footage and again quality of recordings of WW2 tanks is low compared to today's standards.
Next issue is when a tank fires it's a boom or a big heat/sound wave which is difficult to accurately replicate with a 2 1/2" speaker.
TheIBUMan is looking into a revised PC configurator software package which will allow individual sound levels to be tweaked up or down to compensate the recorded sample quality, but it takes time so for now it's a case of increasing the sound level of the recorded sample to achieve a better main gun.

Re: IBU3 main gun sounds.
Tankbear, there are no such tank days in the US. There are no running tank museum pieces here either. No way for me to get any recordings of them other them maybe YouTube.
But the engine sounds and machine gun sounds are fantastic, it's just the main gun sound. A shame the IBU3 has no way to adjust the volume of the engine or gun separately like the IBU2 does, that is an awesome feature that should have been carried over IMHO.

Re: IBU3 main gun sounds.
Just to point to this, if your not an absolute purist about sound, you could replace with a similar (close) sound - for example, there are plenty of sounds around youtube that can be used to create .wav files (actual 88 firings from world war II us army testing; 5" naval cannon (modern) firing 21 rounds with ejection (you could take a piece of that and have the current #3 firing - ejection pretty doggone close). Also have some mg34 firings that have goodly sections.
IMHO that is

Re: IBU3 main gun sounds.
Guess I'll just look around on line and try to find cannon fire I like. I'm not concerned if it's a real 12.8cm gun going off just a decent gun fire sound that isn't drowned out by the air soft gun itself. I'll try anything at this point!
Only let down with the IBU3 that I've found. It really sound have the ability to change the individual sound levels in its programming screen.

Like I said TheIBUMan is looking to add this to the software.
Have you tried any of the other main gun sounds already available for the IBU3 if your not after accuracy?
