Prototype Panther

Post by 43rdRecceReg »

This interesting Czech website http://www.panzernet.net/panzernet/stra ... ky/pz5.php shows the development of the Panther from a wooden model, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the T34, on through trials and modifications. I wonder how much these wooden and metal models (also mentioned in my thread on recognition models) would be worth now?...

Their worth is only as much as someone is willing to pay. ;)

Initially the OKW put forward the idea to simply copy the T-34 with a few changes so there were some designs and models floated around. But they quickly found out German industry was not set up to produce certain aspects (casting and forging) of the T-34 let alone the distaste politically and morally of copying and enemy tank!

I have seen a few of these come up to market and were far from priceless...
