automatic car parking ?

Post by mcevoyi »

Silly one ..as I was sat waiting for a bit of tank to glue

As we all know a lot of newer cars are fitted with automatic car paring assist ..

Really cool idea especially if it involves ere in doors or that bloke in a Nissan micra with his flat hat
you know the one he's always in front of you when your in a hurry ?

Any way ., correct me if I am wrong ..
it works by using the sensors in the front and rear bumper to work out where fixed objects are around the
the car your trying to park.. cool modern technology actually being useful

Now I am sat here in fits of giggles . In fact crying with laughter about ere in doors
She quite seriously said that when she was down at the stables she mistakenly hit the reverse parking
button as ot become natural to her to domso ..and then panicked as the landrover started to drive back and forward and tured left and right
unable to find a space to park in . In a huge yard .. I posed my self laughing at the thought of a brilliant way to lose the misses for a good few hours as the landrover just dodged round the yard of it own accord .....

Our vw has it - only engages if you press the button. It searches for a space then bongs to let you know when found.

Engage reverse and use throttle/brake as needed. It steers slow/fast depending on your right foot!

Clever yes, able to lose control? Maybe only in a Landrover lol

NO THANKS! People can't drive worth a damn as it is, now we're going to give everyone a car that can drive for them? Rather then waste all of that money I'd suggest people just learn how to drive their damn cars! Not saying you can't but I'm sure you've met the ones I'm referring to.

Jack I don't think that there are more bad drivers than before.
What has happened is that Cars have become more like your sitting room with a decent sound system and heating and air conditioning which is probably more efficient than what you have at home which is where we relax and unwind and even grab 40 winks,
Driving is no longer an activity that is seen to require ones attention 100% of the time,
This is the reason why a Biker when driving a car is more aware, NO I DID NOT SAY A BETTER DRIVER :/ it is simply because you have to be aware all the time or fall into the road when riding a motorcycle.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hi My car has sensors front and back but no self parking ,yesterday whilst driving in snow (quite heavy ) the front sensors kept bonging away the only problem was there was nothing in front of me ,till eventually they did there nut bonging going to red then turned there toes up flashing problem needs service a load of other warning lights and switched themselves off . If it was fitted with auto breaking it would have activated (glad its not fitted) probably causing me to go into a skid , modern cars fitted with all these so called safety features could be fooled into doing the wrong thing by a little snow .

Living in New Zealand and many a landrover around I cultured an intense dislike for the oil leaky, no-brakes damn things !!
At least they didnt rust in the body..................

As for the modern trappings of auto tech, it has become a bit condescending to know that car makers are treating us like imbeciles that cant park a car let alone operate one with out having it do the thinking for us.
Creating poor vehicle operators by removing the need to actually be a good operator. :wtf:
