Colour matching ?

Post by Model Builder 4 »

Evening all,

I've recently bought a panther and I am in the process of scratching some side track armour for it, I wish to match the tri - colour camo as close as I can but they will be weathered with mud , dust and rust so an exact match is not a problem, I was wondering if anyone could suggest the colours and manufacturer of them that is most commonly used for such schemes, I have added a picture of the colours and hope I can find something to match as being colour blind as well makes it a tad difficult to match them by myself Image

Cheers, Lee

Hard to say because it looks like it's been filtered, dry brushed with oils and probably had oil weathering. Can't you ask the person you bought it from?

You definitely have a Challenge there MB4....It sure would be nice if you knew the brand of paint that was used previously....but matching ...though tricky still can be done with the paints that you are used to using...it's a rather slow tedious process...but eventually you can come very close...then do weathering to blend it all together...If it were me...I would figure on the Primary colors...then tint slowly and carefully from there ;)

Thanks for the replies lads Image I'm hoping that with a bit of weathering and dust and mud effects it won't be too noticeable, I've added a picture of the start of the side armour, still got to make the brackets which hold the rest of the missing plates,

Cheers, Lee.

If it's HL then it will be the same as the Challenger 2, I found Tamiya XF60 dark yellow to be the same, seemed a bit light when it was wet but dried the same shade
