M1 metal lower hull

Hey there Steel Thanks for posting this...I've known about this hull for awhile...it's nice ...have seen it on EBAY...But the price tag is a bit high for my budget...They are asking 1k US for it there way too much for me....I cannot wrap my mind around paying that much for a toy tank
What's also an uncertainty about that package is the drive system...it has only one motor..which means it has some kind of clutch system like the old Tamiyas used to have...which means you have to invest another 2 to 400 for electrics in order for it to work
I think the hull you were looking at for your LEO is a much better thought out deal....as you could run the stock RX and other internals....

My HL runs perfectly fine ...if need be...I do know how to make it very strong

With 1K of US dollar just for the lower hull, I think even if you can afford it, it wouldn't worth doing so. Price in China is much cheaper, huh?

According to your link there Steel...indeed so...almost half of what the Singapore guys are asking on EBAY ....thing is...my M1's lower is already about 50 to 60% metal already...So at the moment...Strengthening it is really all that's needed...I also like having dual gearboxes instead of that design's single drive

Hopefully someone will come out with a better option

That's one of the reason I still keep my Leo2 100% stocked! My final plan is to have a full metal lower hull. For upper hull, plastic should do fine. Plastics are usually more detail than metal, right?

The problems in my PanTiger seem never end. After I realign the road wheels and idlers, it seems better. Thrown tracks only happen when taking it for extreme off road. Now new problem, some of the suspension arms wont spring! If remove, re-install, shaking it, it will work for a while and then same as it used to be. Too dry? Need oil? Endless problems! Hope the hull of my real Tiger will arrive soon.

The LEO hull you showed me was much nicer in design...it had dual gearboxes which is much better than that single unit in the M1...and Yes...I do feel there are more options sticking to plastic ...

This new problem could be simple ....as a trouble shoot...just try loosening the arm screws...if they move free then you might be over tightening them...If this is the case...you can solve it by mixing some white ELMER's type glue with some dust created by sanding some scrap plastic...with a toothpick or other fine tool you might have on hand ...fill the hole in the mounting tower with it...make sure the tower itself stays clean...then replace the suspension arms...when putting back the screw...make sure you tighten them just enough to where the arms move free

This is if that isn't the case....as it could be the casting of your suspension arms are too beefy or thick...it happens sometimes...the solution for this...if the "cap" that sits on the hull mounting tower is too thick...you can just sand the tower top ..and reinstall the arm ...it might take a few tries...but slow and steady work will pay dividends
What sometimes also happens is the tower is too fat with very little clearance from the hole in the metal arm....this is trickier ...there are two solutions for this...one is to bore the metal arm out with a drill..the other is to wrap a piece of 250 grit sandpaper on a rod...and slowly work the inside of the hole
one takes a little longer...and one you have to be very careful doing it ...as you could drill right through the arm

I wouldn't use lubricant right away...as it could harm the plastic the hull is made of

Depends on how much you are into the hobby. For some who can afford it, 1k for a lower metal hull for an RC tank is good enough.

For others like me, I'd rather spend that 1k on other stuff like a new mountain bike.

Bottom line: what isn't worth it for others, is worth it for some. And just because it exists doesn't mean you have to buy it in order to enjoy your hobby.

Thank you for your 0.02 cents. However, what I mean it's not worth 1K for a lower hull because, within the world of RC tank hobby, you can do a lot more with 1K USD.

I take design into consideration too....if something is worth it...then some consideration is done....You should have seen the Leo Hull Steel showed me..in comparison to the M1 hull above it was far better layed out and at a 3rd of the price...so almost a no brainer if I was in the market for one

You could Translate that practicality to the purchase of that Mountain Bike....I built a Titanium one for less than 1k US...and before that...I did look at Carbon frames etc...but decided to stick with old school technology ...for me..the weighing the Pros and Cons is more important than following a trend

But yes...what is treasure for one man...could well be garbage for another ...and you must add in practicality as part of the equation
