Favorite tank? 1. Visually 2. Running

Post by tao »

Just curious what people like as their favorite tanks with two criteria; Visually and running? Of course one choice can click off both categories. (For me right now Panther G covers both)

My Trail blazer for running and my Centurian Bridge layer for visual looks.

That's a tricky one, my Sherman's are excellent runners, the pershings probably the best (unless it's on really long grass when it gets wrapped round the sprockets), but my strum tiger will run through 18 inch grass without blinking. Looks wise I think my m50 and m51 are my favourites as they're a fairly uncommon subject

Hi guy's,

I think the sherman is hard to beat for looks , laden with stowage and tank riders it tells it's own story, running wise as many others have said I like all my tanks , just fun running them all around the garden

T55 for me. Mine runs through anything and is unstoppable plus is such a iconic tank.

Also love my Leo2 but can be a little big and clumsy it tight spaces like at indoor tanks meets.

There is a very good reason why over 70% of us build a Tiger 1,
It defines what we think of as an armoured fighting machine from our childhood onwards.
The makers and this Forum have only recently begun moving toward more modern armour so it is a little early to determine whether this trend will continue and indeed whether a new favourite will emerge,
I honestly believe that assuming the likes of SCHUMO/ASIATAM and other upgrade specialists come up with the products to convert bog standard to fully modified that the "Centurian" if it ever goes into production will sell out overnight.
But that might just be the ramblings of an old man.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Is the question about real tanks or RC tanks? I read a question about actual tanks but based on the responses it appears I have miss it.

WW II for me has to be the Tiger I or II. Both impressive looking and very effective. Modern era, the M1A1/2 Abrams and the Challenger. Again both impressive in appearance and equally effective in action!

IMO of course,

I grew up watching the old 'World At War' with Sir Lawrence. I built models as a kid, but mostly WWII naval AC.

Flash forward to my thirties when I was shopping for trains for my sons for Xmas and I came across a 1/72 DML RC Tiger I. It hit me on a visceral level, brought me right back to my childhood.

It's pretty damn iconic to do that. Stugs, Marders, Pershings, SU-100s, etc are all cool, but they're not the Tiger I. Even the Sherman pales in comparison (always reminded me of Godzilla movies).

The Tamiya Tiger I was the kit that started the whole 1/16 movement and still remains the best kit they made in my opinion. I have one that's over 12 years old that still runs like a champ, all original, even after two sons using it, including rolling down concrete steps.
What, me worry?
