Relocating rotation unit.

Hi, due to lack of space to fit everything inside I had to relocate the rotation unit, and now Im even considering to replace it with a modified servo. So the question is: What do you use to stick the motor to the upper hull instead of the screws and the screw mounts? How do you do it?

I replaced mine with a modified servo because the clutch gear on my rotation unit broke. -_- I've seen some people use styrene blocks or whatnot glued to the upper hull, upon which screw holes are drilled on for mounting. I didn't have access to the tools needed to do that, so I went the ghetto way. I experimented with mounting points using hot glue first. When I was ~sure~ I picked a good place, I stuck the servo with plastic steel epoxy. No way it's moving now, so there's peace of mind there... Unless I need to remove it lol.

Only problem with gluing a servo in rather than screwing it is if the gears chew up and give up, its harder to replace.

Saying that, I've glued mine in ... lol

If you get a metal geared servo, it minimises the risk

Also remember the will be deeper than the heng long traverse box so you may run into clashes with stuff in the lower hull

Double sided 3M automotive tape holds a rotation motor on very securely but you can remove it if need be. Never glue anything that has all those moving parts you're asking for trouble.

I'm at this stage of my challenger 2 build. I ordered a high torque, high speed servo. I've cut the round servo horn that came with the servo to fit inside the recess of the HL white gear and I'm now looking at mounting ideas. Mounting to the side of the hull will be difficult as the chally 2 has a tapered hull so I'm looking to build a frame to attach to the upper body. This is as per scalawag's challenger build.

I've bought some hex spacers and I will screw a top frame with servo mounted to the spacers to a bottom frame which will be double sided sticky taped to the upper body.

Well that's the plan anyway.
