A Question About Rank

Post by Max-U52 »

I know the rank here doesn't really mean that much, and it's not like I actually HAVE to follow the General's commands, but I'm wondering - Can a guy refuse promotion? I kinda have an aversion to being an Officer. I work for a living. :haha:  8)

Anyway, when the time comes do I have to be an officer or can I serve for my entire career as an NCO? I think Master Sergeant is a pretty good rank.

I think you have to enter the levels of epic spam to reach those officer ranks.

Well, Bill, they've made you an officer at just over 1100 posts. I wonder how many to make Lt.?

Sorry, that's "they made you an officer, Sir!". :haha: :haha: :wtf:

I think even Alpha will be hard pressed to get to Field Marshall level!

I want to stay a Staff Sergeant! (when I get there).

Just out of curiosity, I assume these ranks are based on the British military, so don't y'all have the Sergeant first Class, Master Sergeant, First Sergeant, Sergeant major and Command Sergeant Major? I'm pretty sure Jonathon Higgins was a Sergeant Major. (Alpha can tell you all about Jonathon Higgins) :haha: @)

LOL....Makes me wonder just how many here ever participate on other boards....the numbers here are minuscule in comparison to other boards I've been on...When Bravo had their boards people had crazy numbers
I think it's just here...there are more lurkers than participants

A better Question is...do you like to meet ..converse...have fun with others you have something in common with...That's it...that's the bottom line for me...Don't care about the Lurkers .. because eventually...you find they have no worth at all

To the unwary, ranks of Non Commissioned Officers in the British Army can be a nightmare for instance the Household Cavalry are quite different to any other Regiment or Corp =
Regimental Corporal Major is a WO1
Regimental Quartermaster Corporal is a WO 2 as is
Squadron Corporal Major WO 2
Staff Corporal is a Staff Sergeant
Corporal of Horse is a Sergeant
Lance Corporal of Horse is a Corporal and a
Lance Corporal is yes really a Lance Corporal !!
Other Regiments and Corp have similar differences.
Gary, Sergeant Major is not of itself usually used as a rank, It is usually preceded by an identifier such as Squadron / Company /Flight /Troop but is always a WO 2,
All those other titles you mention I fear are absent from the British Army Rank Structure.
Wasn't that fun?
shaun.
