Camera tank

Post by Bluelion »

Could someone please suggest a Small camera suited to put on tanks that has a wireless capability so I may drive my tank whilst viewing the iPad .....
If it's on eBay that would be great . I've seen some fantastic videos of guys on here who have used pin hole cameras . And put a hell of a lot of work into it . Well done .
I'm not looking to record it just live stream it
It doesn't have to be cosmetically pleasing I'm not worried about that .
Thank you

I recently knocked up a quick camera tank for some one who wanted to drive it around a grave yard next to her garden at night.
I just took off the turret and blue tacked an ip camera on the deck with a battery powering it.i drove the tank and she controlled the camera panning from her iPad.
That's a real cheap easy set up.ip cameras are about 20 on the bay.

Here's the camera I just got, but you also have to get a transmitter and receiver (the ipad may act as RX, don't know).

I'm just messing about with this at the moment. I got a keychain camera. The lens is attached by a ribbon cable, so can be extended to where you want it and leave the bulky body somewhere else in the tank. People use this setup at the flying club I part of. I'm looking at putting a USB port powered from the main battery to keep it charged rather than rely on the 30 min battery inside.

This is a link to the fault finding page for the one I have. it shows you the camera stripped down so you can see the ribbon cable.

GoPro Hero series of cameras stream live to the iPad; but they're not cheap. However, they do offer slo-mo, and that's a neat feature for action shots (barrel recoil/ flames etc.). Mounting requires a little thought, but no problem really..

You might want to check out the Mobius. It has the ribbon cable for the camera and with the docking station can transmit, but I don't know about to an ipad.

That's why I suggested an ip camera,it will connect to the same router as your iPad connects to so with an app can be linked live stream to your camera.your home router should have enough range to cover the garden.my router covers about 50yrds all around the house.

Unfortunately my router is not that good so it needs to be wireless the go pro looks good but the basic one doesn't do wireless so it would have to be the dearer one . Trying to make it a bit cheaper , I'm going to look at the möbius now.
Thank you all
