Bruder Truck RC Conversion

Has anyone here converted a Bruder truck to RC? I'm contemplating a tank hauler, and I'm starting my research. I've done some googling, but I've only seen a few done. And, those are usually putting a cab on another frame.

Chase, there are a few people who have used the Bruder cabs on an existing RC chassis. You can find some of the builds here:
http://www.rctruckandconstruction.com/f ... ay.php?f=3 One thing to note is that the Bruder vehicles all scale at about 1/16, so finding a suitable chassis for them can be challenging. The Wedico series of truck is said to be 1/16, while the Tamiya series of semi trucks is around 1/14 or so. Tamiya is a lot cheaper and easier to find than Wedico, however. The Tamiya chassis can be too wide, (and the wheels may visually look too big, also), so people get creative with narrowing the axles or making more of an offset to the wheels to match the width of the Bruder bodies.
One of the more popular Bruder bodies is the Mack, but it is a late model truck. If you were trying to get something that more closely matches a WW2 vintage truck, you might consider one of the 1/16 Smith-Miller metal truck cabs; but you'd still have the problem of finding a chassis to work with it.
Not sure if anyone else has interest in this discussion, so feel free to PM me if you want to 'talk' about it more. -Mike

I'm mainly interested in electronics options. I see the Tamiya MFC-01, it's really nice, but very pricey. lol

I've done a conversion.
It's a real pain, in short need to remove plastic chassis suspension parts a fabricate new as well as transmission.
In short what I did
Fitted tamiya truck steering axle but was too wide so had to shorten then added the bruder front wheels and directly mounted to chassis with aluminium u bar so no suspension.
At the rear I fabricated a twin axle suspension system out of auliminium bar. Then bought 4 number 6v 48 rpm motors and have these driving each wheel.
Electronics I fitted ibu2 truck (because I sell them) but a number of different options available depending on your needs.
Overall performance not great so needs more work when I get time.

Hi you need three things a Tamiya Chassis 6x4 ,lego wheels , and plastic card. Then you could end up with this .If you have a bruder low loader you can use that for trailer .

That's a nice Dragon Wagon! I've been poking around looking for parts, and these things can easily beat tanks out as a money pit! lol
The search goes on!

Haha you’re not wrong there.
This year I have had a break from tanks and converted a bruder dozer to RC, then the tractor unit to RC, bought a second hand Tamiya truck last year so been fixing and upgrading that with the upgrades costing more than the original truck. Just last week £90 spend on CNC machined wheels and another £32 on all terrain tyres. Bought a Carson low loader at £360 because it was in the sale! And just bought a Merc Actros tractor unit and now buying upgrade parts. And I won’t mention the ££££ 8x8 tipper truck I bought off Forgebear.
I seriously need to stop and get back into tanks I might have some money then!
