Little trick for those tiny screws in hard to reach places

Post by tao »

I found a bottle of crazy glue is great to have for those tiny hard to reach screws like in and around gearboxes and motors.
Just a dab holds the screw enough to orient and seat it.

I do the same, have a small jar of model scenics tacky gel, had it for years. Just dab a screwdriver into it, pop the screw on the end and guide the screw into the hole. Non magnetic so the screw doesn't get drawn to metal surfaces, great for those hard to reach gearbox mounts.

I use blue tack as it comes off easily and you can also mould it to hold bits in position in prep for gluing or screwing together.

Try a little bit of grease. Holds the screw surprisingly well to the tip. And for Phillips screws that act like they want to strip when you're removing them, dip the tip of the screwdriver in Ajax, Comet, or any granulated powdered cleanser. Gives better bite and the screw is less likely to strip out on you.

I add a small magnet to the screwdriver's shaft.

Hi.
Being an old fart , I use vasilene when I screw into tight places, works wonders,
The tanks seem quite happy too.
Cheers Wads. :haha:
