Recoil systems.

Post by wadsworthj »

Hi Peeps.
Yes it is the wads back again , Its ok Alpha ,I am not yet posting pics, HaHa.
I wish to look into putting a proper recoil unit in my h/l. kv1 tank, the
hideous jerk off it performs , is just not kosha !!
if any one knows of a inexpensive outfit, easy to fit in ,please let me know.
Cheers for now. John Wadsworth.

Do yo mean the track recoil?

If so RC Tank Australia does an ATRC (Anti Track Recoil Circuit) basically it's a relay which cuts power to the motors when you fire so you don't get the track recoil.

If your not into IR and using the older RX18 & FM receiver, it is possible to use 2 RX18 connected to the same receiver. 1 RX18 purely powers the tracks, the second does everything else. This one is great for firing on the move as the motors are still powered when firing.

Hi.
I meant the main gun recoil, so that only the barrel moves, by servo.
I am not good at electronics, and money is tight. so
I am looking for a cheap system that is easy to install.

any help would be great to point me in the right direction.
Cheers Wads.

Cheapest and easier is to replace the airsoft unit with heng long recoil unit. It's a direct swap and just two wires from airsoft motor to the recoil motor.

But a few things to consider.

Depending on the tank you may need to replace the barrel
The heng long recoil works backwards. Springs forward but not backwards

Servo recoil, won't directly work with the heng long tank electronics and requires you create some working mechanism.

Then there is the asitam, taigen or tamiya recoil units. These can work with minor wiring mods, but will need some work to mechanically make it all work.

Clark has a nice little kit out if you don't want to bother getting an airsoft to convert...

Clark is doing straight gear too now for the recoil.... If you have the spacing work out and in this case he already did it for you with the kit, then it is the best way to do a recoil really in terms of linearity and the amount of travel you get out of it, plus there is no danger of damaging the recoil mechanism if your barrel get push in or pull out.......

I would agree with Tankbear...if you can find them go with the HL ...desolder and resolder might be necessary ..but more affordable than going with aftermarket servo type recoils ...mostly because sometimes those can add to the cost as the hook up may not jive with the HL RX
Check in with Forgebear...it's a good chance he might still have them ;)

Good Luck Wads...good to see you modelling again

Hi Guys.
Great stuff, one problem seems to be cropping up though,
I am running the standard h/l. 2.4 set up that comes with the tank.
and I cannot see the two three pin slots in the receiver , does that mean I have to purchase a clark t22 board etc ?
if so it would mean getting a new transmitter.
I used to do r.c. boats and used a very successful "Radiolink",set up, which I could bond up to six boats with a single transmitter.
which looks as if it could be used instead of the clark set up. and be less expensive, the range on these is excellent.
please comment, as I wish to get it right !!
Cheers Wads

Hey there Wads....yeah as far as I know most other recoil systems won't work with the HL RX...some major changes are needed...sometimes everything...so like Tankbear and I recommended...try and get yourself the HL recoil....they are getting harder to find so if you do find them ...jump and get a couple
I am working on a design of my own...but haven't had the time to build a test board to work it out...when I do though ...I will drop you a line ;)

But for now...even though the HL recoils in the wrong direction...that's the best bet
