When you say "Electronics" do you mean the control board? If you do then YES you can use the board on HENG LONG/TAIGEN and TORRO Tanks both Airsoft and I/R,
Unfortunately the Taigen board will not provide an I/R signal that conforms to the regulations controlling I/R battling.
To fight with a regulation fulfilling system you would need a Clark or IBU2 Board
Shaun.

do the clark or IBU2 boards have direct connections? What I mean is are those two boards compatible with the heng long connectors to the various parts?

The Clark board and the IBU2 are both almost "PLUG and PLAY",
Every HENG LONG/TAIGEN plug that fits in a socket on the HENG LONG or TAIGEN control board fits in a socket in the CLARK board and the IBU2 ,
The instructions are very clear and the benefits of changing to one of these boards is almost beyond description,
There is of course a downside, and that is you will have to buy a 2.4 digital Transmitter and receiver,
The advantage in buying a digital Transmitter/Receiver is that you can put as many as 10 + Tanks on one Transmitter.
If you go to the relevant pages of the Forum you will get a very good explanation about the advantages of changing.
The Clark board is slightly cheaper than the IBU2, but the IBU2 is in my opinion better than the CLARK board,
An example being that whatever "SMOKER" you plug into the IBU2 automatically becomes a Proportional smoker.
I have both in different Tanks, The only thing that makes me buy a CLARK board instead of the IBU2 is that the IBU2 is bigger, and in some Tanks it becomes a tight fit, which requires a bit of lateral thinking to overcome that problem.
I warn you once you have changed over to a CLARK or IBU2 control board you won't think twice about ordering one of these boards each
time you buy a new Tank.

Taigen IR will battle with other Taigen IR tanks.scottd1975 wrote:Can you use Taigen electronics on a IR tank?
Heng Long IR will battle with other Heng Long IR tanks.
Clark/IBU will battle with Tamiya Battle System (What Shaun refer to as regulation).
Clark has setting that will battle with Heng Long IR tanks. (Not too sure about IBU but my expectation is it will do the same).
If you are just playing around and you only have Taigen OR Heng Long tanks, you don't need Clark/IBU. If you go Clark/IBU etc, like Shaun says, you have to replace all your radio equipment with Hobby grade stuff.
If you don't want to replace radio equipment, you can also get a "translator" to battle with other tanks, like a MAKO unit from RCTA. It sits between your IR emitter/receiver and your Taigen/Heng Long MFU and translate the signal from Taigen/HL to Tamiya compatible signals.

Re: can you use Taigen electronics in a IR battle?
Michael Hi,
I will quote from the instructions that come with the IBU2,
"The IBU2 only transmits the TAMIYA IR code which is ignored by these Tanks (HENG LONG/TAIGEN) and vice versa.
The IBU2 will IR battle with Tanks fitted with the following electronics TAMIYA/SLU/ELMOD/CLARK/DBC"
So no IR battling between HENG LONG Tanks using the Heng Long IR system and the same applies to Taigen Tanks BUT if a Heng Long Tank and another Heng Long or Taigen Tank are both fitted with an IBU2 then IR battling will be fine, this presupposes that the IR emitter and receiver are fitted to all Tanks involved.

Thanks Shaun. Good to know. Not that our club every uses the Heng Long/Clark features but it is on the Clark board. In fact it is something we always have to double check if a tank is not firing and receiving...........

Hi This is where it gets very expensive, before you buy better to go see Rich and the other guys in your area , they can tell you how to fit them programme them. best place to buy them and how to set up your tank. I have been through all this have fitted and set up I.R. systems for other guys , when it come to electrics most people run a mile , because if you do something wrong its a puff of smoke and back to the maker for a new board.
I have Tamiya systems El-mod ,IBU, and Clark all work well but the IBU is my favourite easy to set up once you know what you are doing , and you can swop from tank to tank in less than five mins you can set the sounds on a micro sd card keep the card with the tank , just need a new card for each tank you swop to . Clark system you can not change the sounds so you have to buy one for each different type of tank. Tamiya are very expensive so are the recoil units and flash units which you have to fit.
regards pete
