New Battery and Charger

Post by PainlessWolf »

I was at Hobbytown yesterday looking for brass tubing for the Stuart bogies when it hit me that I had not replaced the stock battery on the StuG yet. ( This is normal and needed anymore to get full performance from the newer gearboxes and kit available out there. HL\Taigen's battery are great for Christmas morning fun but replace them asap ) Anyway, I picked up the battery and saw the stacked boxes of Chargers fresh in for the Holiday rush. The one I use was a decade old when I got it and that was over ten years ago as is! It has been getting super hot lately and not completely charging the new high capacity batteries I have taken to using. It was time for a change. I retired the old WinStar yesterday and got this Origin. It touts itself as "Simple:Capable:Safe" Perfect for me and even reasonably priced. ;o) Will charge even 5000MAh batteries in an hour. Has alerts for peak capacity, etc. I am happy and looking forward to another decade of safe, fun tanking. Pics:

10 Years from your last charger

I've just got my 4th charger since I got into RC about 6 years ago. And I wouldn't say I abuse them, as nowadays don't get much chance to use my models. :'(

Good morning, Ian,
I hope that all changes and you get the chance to use your tanks more often. I gifted that Hobbylink Abrams (that you sold me the OEM tracks to a while back) to a friend who _really_ needed something to take his mind off of his Life nowadays. Right after that, the turret rotation gearbox bit the dust and I found one online and am now nudging him to dust off his soldering gun and swap the boxes out. :o) Tanks as therapy. Yessir, my old Winstar charger came shipped with the second HL Tiger 1 I bought many moons ago. I recall it was the one with John's hopped up airgun and his version of the Bovington Tiger's paintwork on it. Lately, I have had a 50\50 chance that the charger would see that the battery was charged and shut off or just keep charging and ruin the battery so it was time to make a change. Happy Holidays, my friend,
regards,
Painless
